Hain visits AgoriadAgoriad recently welcomed the MP for Neath, Peter Hain, on an official visit to our offices in Porth Penrhyn, Bangor. After having been appointed as Secretary of State for Wales in October, 2002, Mr Hain was appointed to the post of Secretary of State for Work & Pensions in June, 2007, thus his visit to our offices could be seen as serving a dual purpose. Opportunities For Wales ProjectAgoriad have recently welcomed Mukesh Sudarshan who is spending some time with the company in the role of ‘Strategy Planner’ as part of the ‘Go Wales – Graduate Opportunities Wales Project’. Profile - Michael Jones Michael is a very enthusiastic young man who was born and raised in the village of Glanrafon near Corwen. Following a period of work experience supported by the Skillbuild scheme at the local garage, H.G. Profile - David RossingtonHaving been appointed in 2001, David Rossington is now a familiar face to all who frequent the Valley Hotel, situated 4 miles from his hometown of Holyhead in Valley (Dyffryn) on the Isle of Anglesey. David, who works a weekly total of 25 hours per week at the hotel, is employed as a ‘Kitchen Assistant’ within the busy catering section of the 18 bedroom establishment. Roberts – Operations ManagerAt the start of August, 2007, Agoriad Cyf. welcomed Kevin Roberts, recently appointed as ‘Operations Manager’ within the company. Living in Glan Conwy, Kevin has a background of working within a ‘Social Enterprise’ setting having previously been employed as the ‘Business Development Manager’ for Co-Options Ltd. in Prestatyn. for Life - Caernarfon - 2007 Agoriad ladies completed their first ever Race for Life on May 13th 2007. Over 20 hardy souls associated with Agoriad completed the 5K challenge at Caernarfon along the Aber foreshore next to the Menai Strait. Workstep Profile - Christopher
DayHaving been appointed to his post back in 2000, Christopher Day of Holyhead now has seven years service under his belt within his post at the Trearddur Bay Hotel. Originally appointed as an ‘Assistant Gardener’, Chris progressed to being the sole gardener at the hotel in 2005 and, as such, now works unsupervised for the majority of his working day. Work Placement - Hannah BarrattMid-March saw Agoriad offer a work placement to Hannah Barratt of Fairbourne. Hannah, who is a 1st year student at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Dolgellau, on the National Diploma in Health Studies course, spent a week with Agoriad’s Meirionnydd based staff gaining an insight into the nature of the work we carry out. CASE AWARDS, 2006 The annual Phillip Case Award ceremony was held in mid-February, 2007 at the rugby club in Bangor. The annual awards ceremony is aimed at recognising the most supportive employers in relation to the work of Agoriad and also provides an ideal opportunity to present our service users with any vocational qualifications they may have attained in the lead up to the award ceremony. Project vacanciesAgoriad has secured INTERREG funding to pilot a disability employment project, R.U.R.A.L., throughout North Gwynedd and Ynys Môn for 18 months commencing January 2007. achievement Agoriad are extremely grateful to Gerald Parry of Caernarfon who went to great lengths recently to raise much needed funds for ourselves. To raise funds, Gerald took part in the 2006 International Snowdon Race which was held on the 29th of July.
